The Story of The Birth of Fashion
Birthed By A Young Goddess, Arteest
They Say It Is Based On A True Story
Dedicated to Arteest, The Little Girl That Took Life & Made It A Game of Her Own Through Fashion & Art. She taught me that you can take dark colors & turn them into rainbows. This is the only picture they ever found of her.
There once was a little girl with strange tendencies that no one had understood, least of all herself. Her father was a geologist who had found her on the rim of the oldest volcano known to man in the lands of the ancients. He found her while surveying the area after a natural disaster had occurred with different colored burn marks covering her body, resembling different shapes and symbols such as squares and circles. The natives of the land where she had been found told him that she had created the first uniform, made the first dress and the first pants, and created the concept of shoes and slippers. The father named her “Society” and took her home to his wife, a woman who was a failed seamstress who herself could not conceive a child. She took the child on as a stepmother would.
Every day of the week, the child would fixate on a different color. Her coloring books were colored in with every shade underneath the sun. She could make rainbows out of the darkest of colors. She would out different shapes from different papers and materials she found around the house.
Her stepmother grew very impatient of Society and one day, when the father was away at work for a weekend trip, the step mother tethered the girl, from her feet all the way to her mangled hair, in all the different spools of thread that she had around the house from her unsuccessful business. She threw her in a small, dark room in the basement where she had intentionally covered the floor in pins and needles so the child would hurt herself. She buried her in dirty, old clothing to humiliate the child and then locked the door. The whole weekend she was there alone, with the step mother just throwing some scraps of food into the darkness of the room once a day.
The father returned and became infuriated upon hearing his wife’s explanation for her behavior. “She is only a child and she has some form of autism. She needs our help and patience. What is wrong with you?” He ran to the basement and unlocked the room to find his daughter no longer tangled in thread, but surrounded by the most beautiful pieces of dresses and garments that the world had ever seen. In the darkness, she had taken that which was meant to bind, entangle and humiliate her and turned it into beauty and art. What he had witnessed was the birth of Fashion.
Not having the money to give her the help that she needed, he stayed home for two weeks straight posting pictures of her garment all over the internet and social media to sell her pieces throughout the world. She made pieces for all of the women of all of the different countries out of the colors of their flags and captivated the world with her designs. After captivating the world, she was never seen or heard from again when a small meteor came down and destroyed her house. They found the remains of her parents but never found her. The only thing that remained completely untouched was her special room in the basement where she had created her pieces and drew on the walls. The room glowed with different colors and the extreme cold that filled it created extreme heat simultaneously. They found writings on the wall in different colors and the inscription said, “EDUCATION, CAREERS, SECURITY, BUSINESS, WORKS OF ART, MUSIC, WAS MY GAME TO PLAY IN THIS ROOM. I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH. I NOW KNOW WHAT THE HUMAN LIFE EXPERIENCE IS - IT IS THE FASHION OF LIFE, A GAME. HENCE, I SAY TO YOU, LIVE YOUR LIVES THROUGH THE GAMES OF FASHION AND BECOME MORE THAN YOU EVER SOUGHT OUT TO BE FOR YOURSELF. I AM THE GLOBAL GREEN GODDESS ARTEEST, GODDESS OF SYMBOLISM AND CREATION. I WAS SENT HERE TO STUDY AND REINTRODUCE ART AND FASHION TO EARTH. FASHION IS LIFE, AND THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN PAY HEED TO MY MEMORY IS TO PLAY THE GAMES. LET THE FASHION GAMES BEGIN! I WILL BE WATCHING AND QUIETLY JUDGING, SO DON’T DISAPPOINT ME.”
They say she is still somewhere, traveling the world in the shadows of the night, inspiring people – old and young, male and female, to create and bring symbolism to life through fashion and art.
